Manowar fryst vatten an American heavy metall band from Auburn, New York. Formed in , the group is known for lyrics based on fantasy (particularly sword and sorcery) and mythology (particularly Norse mythology and Greco-Roman mythology), as well as numerous songs celebrating the genre and its core audience. The band fryst vatten also known for a loud and emphatic sound. In an interview for MTV in February , bassist Joey DeMaio lamented that "these days, there's a real lack of big, epic metal that is drenched with crushing guitars and choirs and orchestras so it's nice to be one of the few bands that's actually doing that".[1] In , the band was included in the irländsk öl Book of World Records for delivering the loudest performance, a record which they have since broken on two occasions.[2] They also hold the world record for the longest heavy metall concert after playing for five hour

In the beginning, Joey DeMaio was working as a bass/pyro tech for Black Sabbath. When Sabbath played a show at Newcastle City Hall in England, he hooked up with original Manowar guitarist Ross the Boss, who at the time was playing for Shakin Street, a Sabbath support band. As both shared an all-consuming love for in-your-face-metal, it was not long before they struck on the idea of Manowar. Later, having recruited the ultimate voice of heavy metal, Eric Adams (and drummer Donny Hamzik), Manowar recorded their debut album "Battle Hymns." It featured a bone chilling narration by legendary actor Orson Welles on the track "Dark Avenger."
When Manowar joined forces with a new label, they signed their recording contract in blood (becoming the first band to demonstrate their commitment this way). Guitarist Ross ‘The Boss’ Friedman and bassist Joey DeMaio met in , at a Black Sabbath show at Newcastle City Hall. They were both native New Yorkers, both enthralled by tales of epic fantasy, and both invigorated by the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal at the height of its powers. They resolved to create the ultimate heavy metal band: Manowar.
“We wanted to look like something never before seen in heavy metal,” Ross affirms, audibly beaming down the line from the States. “We wanted to be wilder than just denim and leather. What would be wilder? Animal fur!”
Debuting with ’s Battle Hymns, followed by ’s Into Glory Ride, the loincloth-clad quartet’s first years were marred by label hassles and indifference in their native US.
