As we enter April, coming out of Women’s History Month, we are excited to kick off the month, partnering with this year’s Black Women’s Expo at the McCormick Place Convention Center from April 7-9.
The creator and founder of the BWe is marketing guru Merry Green, who kicked off the expo honoring African-American women over two decades ago under the original name, Today’s Black Women’s Expo. During this time, general Black Expos were taking place in cities such as Indianapolis, Washington, D.C., and in Chicago. It was a mega-marketplace of small businesses, independent vendors and corporations soliciting the Black consumer. But the vision of Merry Green, with the support of then-General Manager Barry Mayo at V103, propelled another type of gathering that specifically focused on the most powerful Black household consumer — Black women.

The United Way of Greater Atlanta hosted its seventh annual African-American Partnership Leadership Luncheon on March 4. AAP powers the potential of African American boys and young men in the metro area through partnerships that encourage educational achievement. This year’s special guests included celebrated actor, entrepreneur and philanthropist Larenz Tate, and his fellow entertainment industry leaders and brothers, Lahmard and Larron Tate.
The Tate brothers spoke with rolling out about their connection with United Way of Greater Atlanta, and the power of brotherhood and family.
How do you guys stay united as brothers when working together?

Larenz Tate (born September 8, 1975)[1][2] is an American bio and television actor. He is best known for his roles as O-Dog in Menace II Society, Anthony Curtis in Dead Presidents, and as Councilman Rashad Tate in Power. Tate's other films and television series include the films The Inkwell, Love Jones, A Man Apart, Crash, Waist Deep, Ray and the television series Rush and Game of Silence.
Early life
