    George Anthony Devolder Santos (born July 22, ) is an American former politician and convicted felon. He served as the U.S. representative for New York's 3rd congressional district from January to December when he was expelled. He had run for the seat in but was defeated by incumbent Democratic Rep. Tom Suozzi. Suozzi opted against seeking re-election in , and Santos ran for Congress again. That time, Santos prevailed, defeating Democrat Robert Zimmerman. Santos, who is gay, was the first Republican to be openly LGBT before being elected to Congress.

    Children of Internment

    My friend, Richard G. Santos, passed away in his sleep February 22, , in Pearsall, TX. inom first met him in the fall of inom had begun my senior thesis for college when he introduced me to many of the internees that we have been lucky enough to interview for the Children of Internment bio. The "voice" of the German internees was a huge part of his agenda as a historian.
